We Were Called to Prayer PDF Print E-mail

Shalom,

At Ezekiel Network's Jewish Seeker's Study this week, we had planned to tell a King David Story- "Thre Return of the King." But instead, we all were prompted to share and pray. We prayed for healing for several people. Then we prayed for the Jewish people in our lives. We prayed for 15 - 18 Jewish people. It was impressive to realize how many Jewish connections and friends we all have. We sense the LORD has been calling us, as a group to prayer, ...because this is the 3rd week in row we have done this! I am planning to to the David story this next week...but subject to the Holy Spirit's leading...!    Join us next week...bring a friend!

The Return of the King

II Samuel 19: 9-43

This story is about the Second Enthronement of King David. David had come to his senses in the aftermath of Absalom and his excessive grief over his lost son and moves to re-establish his kingdom. The question in Israel was—Who should bring David back? Who has claim to the king? There were divisions and controversy between Judah and Israel. Nathan had said that the sword would not depart of David’s house. We now see it was not just David’s familial house that was sundered, but the sword had cut the whole House of Israel in two. Bitter factions between the tribes had surfaced. How will David win the hearts again which Absalom stole away? How will David deal with his enemies and loyalists? How will he bind up the nations wounds?

Does David make wise decisions? In this return of the King, we catch echoes of David’s earlier triumphs of power, mercy and justice. But what differences do we see? What are the consequences of David’s decisions? Is David really back in his old glory?

  1.  Have you ever been in a relational situation like Mephibosheth was here? How did you respond? Why might you want to respond as he did?
